3 Ways to Add Color to a Neutral Home Aesthetic

3 Ways to Add Color to a Neutral Home Aesthetic

Neutral homes are classic and timeless, but they can also start to feel bland and boring over time. If you're looking to add a touch of color to your neutral home without making a major commitment, there are a few simple things you can do. We've linked some products down below to our Amazon Storefront, which is full of our favorite products we use every day in studio. We may earn a very very small commission if you choose to shop our faves!

1. Start with small accents. If you're not sure where to start, try adding small pops of color to your home with accents like throw pillows, blankets, rugs, and artwork. This is a great way to experiment with different colors and see what you like best. You can also easily swap out these accents as your mood changes or as the seasons change. Or, create your own wall art! This is perfect because it can be customized exactly how you want it. We've linked all of the supplies we use for our wall art here, but we custom cut our letters in studio so they fit perfectly + proportionately within our canvas. We've found that letters at craft stores just do not hold up, or look right because they are not made with the canvas dimensions in mind.

4. Bring in nature. Plants and flowers are a great way to add color and life to a neutral home. They also have the added benefit of cleaning the air and improving your mood. When choosing plants, be sure to select a variety of heights and textures to create a visually interesting display. We unfortunately do not get enough sunlight in our basement studio to keep a real plant alive, but we love this realistic olive tree from amazon.

And our favorite:

3. Add our Removable suncatcher stickers to your windows! Our suncatcher stickers are absolutely LOVED by homeowners + designers that opt for a more neutral palette + home aesthetic. Why? because they only let in rainbows while the sun is out. AND they are 100% removable, so there is no residue, and NO commitment to color. They are commonly referred to as serotonin boosters, because exposure to direct sunlight is claimed to be a natural serotonin booster in some studies, and our sun catchers are a vehicle for allowing sun inside!

No matter how you choose to add color to your neutral home, the most important thing is to have fun and express your personal style.
